Sir Ranulph Fiennes
Described as the "World's Greatest Living Explorer" by the Guinness Book of Records, Sir Ranulph Fiennes has been at the forefront of many legendary expeditions. He was the first person to trek to both North and South Poles, and the first to cross the wastes of Antarctica coast-to-coast on foot – the longest polar journey in history. During his time as an SAS officer he saw active service in the Oman conflict. His many books include accounts of his expeditions and a defence of the reputation of Scott of the Antarctic. Fiennes’s latest work is a study of the lives of men and women who have been his heroes.
